For architectural scales, the default level of precision is 1/16 of an inch, but you can get as detailed as 1/64 of an inch. SmartDraw also allows you to specify the level of precision in your floor plan. You can also specify your own custom scale. Click on Units & Scale and choose from common Architectural, Metric, and Mechanical Engineering scales. You can change the scale for your entire drawing at any time.
You don't have to pick and stick to a scale with SmartDraw. When you're done drawing walls, click again on the button that now says Stop Adding Walls. You can also pin the entire library by clicking " Add library." To pin just the symbols that matched your search from a particular library, click on the three dots next to the library's name and select " Add result". You can also save the results for later use.
To add a symbol to your drawing from this view, you can simply drag and drop any symbol to your page. The results will be organized by the libraries symbols were found in.
Type in any word to search for new shapes and objects. You can find additional libraries of symbols using the Search Symbols command. In most cases, you'll need more than one library of symbols to complete a floor plan. Doors and windows will automatically attach to a wall segment and create an opening. The Floor Plan SmartPanel lets you quickly find and add floor plan symbols and pre-built structures, draw walls, and set preferences like scale and dimensions in your design.Īdd symbols from the selected library by dragging-and-dropping them to your drawing area.
